The Rise of the Dragon Lord

How to Feed a Village, For Dummies
Death of a wizard and getting back Lava Spring's food

The party members awoke to a cold Lava Spring's morning. They left the inn to see steam rising up from the 60-foot wide covered well, in the center of town. As they left the town they could see steam coming up from various vents under the ground. The party members vowed to check them out when they got back.

They rode out for a day and camped for the night. On second watch, two massive purple worms burst out of the ground and attacked the party. Despite the party members being asleep, they all woke up when Apollyon Sunn, who was on watch, alerted the party. Most of the party acted swiftly and were able to strike first. However, Maggie was not one of them. Her slow reaction made her an easy target for the feebleminded worms. She was quickly consumed by one of the worms. The party members, in their apathy, let the worm have her.

They then focused on the other worm. Tiassa struck with her fists, Adelia dug in with her swords, and her wickedly enchanted dagger cut a wound that would not close, Apollo went for it's vital spots, and the general finished it off with a flamestrike, after Apollyon Sunn struck it several times with his sword and the purple ate him. The worm's body fell down and Apollyon Sunn cut his way out of its charred corpse. They then hopped in the wagon and outran the other worm.

The next day they arrived at the town. It was clearly a hastly set up town. It was made out of various colored tents and wagons and had a ton of cooking fires in the middle. Several party members noticed the wagon's wheels were removed. Apollo and Adelia noticed that the wheels were purposely removed but the wheels seemed accidently broken.

They walked through the town to the biggest tent, where they assumed the leader resided. Once again, the general's draconic appearence frightened the townsfolk and they cowered before him. They headed into the tent and they saw a bald man, with some wrinkles and deep set eyes, a older woman with graying blonde hair, and a young man with black hair, that looks as if it was well cared for until recently, and a hooked nose. The older man was Rurik, the leader of the town, the woman, Janice, his wife, and the young man was his son Callaway.

The general managed to calm the fears of the three and ask them some questions. They asked them about the wagon wheels and they explained they recently let in a group of travellers into their nomadic group for food and shelter. They then stole all of their food and broke their wagon wheels so they could not follow. For that they were wary of any newcomers. The general offered them ten gold per person to set up camp outside of theirs (and spy on them.) They were eager to take this generous offer of gold and gave them the land but told them to camp 100ft away so they could keep an eye on them but they weren't near everyone else.

That night the group spilt up. Angel went to Callaway's wagon to seduce him and get information out of him. Apollo went to search the wagons and tents for the food and the general, Apollyon Sunn, and Lucas went to the main tent to "persuade" Rurik to give up more information.

Angel waited naked in Callaway's wagon for him to return. When he did, she seduced him into sleep with her. After which she got him to confess that the village stole the food from Lava Springs, but they did it because they were desperate and the town was ruled by a beholder anyways. Adelia then slit his throat and cuddled with him as he bled out.

Apollo scouted out all of the tents without anyone seeing him but did not find much until he got to the last tent. There he found all of the food and saw two guards. They were poorly armed but Apollo did not kill them so not to raise an alarm.

Then the general, Apollyon Sunn, and Lucas went to the main tent. The general distracted Rurik while [[lucas-of-tassamir|Lucas]] cast a zone of truth spell. They then grilled him about Lava Springs and the missing food. He tried to get the heroes to talk outside (where there was no zone of truth) but the general used his draconic heritage to frighten the man into submission. He then told them about how he stole the food and how they were starving to death and needed it. After that they left and discussed their plan. They met up with Apollo and Angel (who was still covered in Callaway's blood) and talked.

Apon Lucas's suggestion, they decided to kill the village leaders (Rurik, Janice, and the now deceased Callaway,) steal all of the food, and let them starve to death. Apollyon Sunn and Apollo decided to kill the two guards silently, while Zane and Tiassa brought the horses around back and unloaded the goods, with the help of Angel as well. The general went back into the tent and cast a circle of death spell, killing Rurik and his wife instantly. With all the food loaded up, they took the horses and headed back to Lava Springs.

Finding Religion at the Springs
Visiting Lava Springs and Discovering the Eyes of Orbius

After bringing back the green orb, the group decided to find the orb held by the beholder. With a discern location spell, cast by Lucas, you discovered that it lied within the settlement of Lava Springs. Maggie, the party wizard, lost her spellbooks so the half-dragon general teleported you there. He was a renown warmage and sent to fill in the gap left by Maggie.

You arrived at the town and scouted it out. Apollo and Zane climbed to the rooftops and saw a normal bustling city. The general, Apollyon Sunn, and Lucas went into town. The general's draconic appearance frightened the townspeople, but he continued on to the town hall. The secretary was frightened by his appearance, but the general soon calmed her and learned about the church services, and about how several weeks worth of food was stolen. he also learned the name of the town's protector, Lord Orbius

During this time, Apollo was in the inn buying people drinks for information. He also learned about the church and about how fire giants destroyed the town several months ago.

Also during this, Tiassa and Adelia had gotten bored at the camp and started walking around the city. They saw the symbol at the church and Tiassa recognized it to represent a beholder. They rushed over to the town hall and told the general this immeadiately. From there, they all met back at the inn and bought rooms, but not before having a verbal altercation with the dwarven innkeeper. Jovin Ungart. Since then he has chosen to overcharge the party members, especially the general (who calls him "Greybeard" (even though it is brown) and damaged his bar) and Apollo (who made a move to attack him before Jovin brought his hammer, Giantsbane, down before him.)

The next day, Apollo, Apollyon Sunn, Tiassa, and Lucas went to the church. The Head Priest Aler came out and all of the party members noticed he was a balding man, with grey hair, and a eyestalk sticking out of his forehead. Then the service started. There sermons were made to Lord Orbius (who did not attend) praising him feverishly, and asking for his protection. The general and Lucas realized this to be a cult religion. Tiassa thought it was an orginized religion and throughly enjoyed the service.

When the service was over, Apollo was ordered to stay back and keep an eye on the priest. Apollo blended into the shadows while the general and Apollyon Sunn approached the high priest to convince him that they wished to join, so they could pry for information. When they said this, the high priest tried to charm them with his eyestalk. It failed but the two still tried to convince the priest. However, the general was not very convincing and the priest told them to come back when they were interested.

The party, minus Apollo, then headed off to the town hall. There they were told they could earn favor with Lord Orbius if they found the food that was stolen from them. They learned it was a town two days to the south who had stolen it. However, there was no map of it as it was a new town, formed by nomads. They were given horses and wagons to haul all of the food back.

Apollo made an interesting discovery himself. After the service, the high priest left the church through a secret door in the back of the church. Apollo was able to find the door but was unable to figure out how to open it. He beleived it beyond his numerous skills and headed back to the inn, where the rest of the party met him and shared information. They planned to set out the next day for the town to retrieve the supplies.

The Green Orb
Fighting Greenbreath and stealing the green orb

After getting directions to Greenbreath's lair, located near the waterfall, the party headed off into the woods. They headed in a few miles, but the trek was slow. The grass blades seemed to grab on to the players, vines reached out to trip them, and every branch in the forest seemed to bar their path.

On their trip through the forest, Tiassa, Zane, Apllo, and Maggie notice several figures flying over head. Tiassa and Zane notice they are green. Soon five green dragons surronded the players and attacked viciously and without warning. The air reaked with chlorine as the lead dragon breathed acidic gas on the party. Some of the party got behind cover, some were only partially burned, but the rest got the full brunt of it. As combat begun, the very trees rose up to fight the party. The forest had grown corrupt in Greenbreath's presence.

The first treant caught Apllo off guard and struck him twice with its heavy oaken branches. Another one attacked Tiassa, but she aptly dodged each blow. The third took on Apollyon but only one blow could get through his heavy armor. Maggie counted the treants appearence with several lightning bolts. The smoking husks of the treants still fought on. Angel threw her dagger into one of the husks and split it in two.

After some more heavy fighting, the treants and dragons were dispatched. The group continued on until they found the waterfall of doom. Tiassa and Adelia dove under water where they found the hidden entrance to Greenbreath's lair. Soon as they emerged for air however, Greenbreath greeted them with a blast of acidic gas. The adventurers were not as adapt of dodging this one however. Many of them were overcome with dragonfear as well and were shaken.

Tiassa  charged the dragon and pummeled it with her fists but it could not pierce the dragon's thick hide. Maggie stood up and mumbled a few words and casted a maze spell and trapped the dragon. While the dragon wasworking his way out of the maze, the adventurers looted the cavern of some of its gold, riches, and of course, the orb. They then teleported back to the city.

Lucas took the orb into the broom closet so no one he saw in the orbs saw him. Here is what he divined:

Red Orb: Lucas saw a castle of some sort with a banner with a bronze lion and red banner.

Black Orb: Lucas saw a seering golden light. It is believed to be in the Celestial Planes.

Blue Orb: Lucas saw a forest with chanting and vines covering the orbs. It is in a forest surrounded by druids

White Orb: It was seen in a snowstorm

Gold Orb: All the can be heard is a loud ticking.

Copper Orb: Lucas can only see complete darkness but Undercommon can be heard.

Bronze Orb:  Lucascan see some sort of wizard's study, possibly in a tower.

Silver Orb: Can be seen in a dungeon of some sort.

Brass Orb: In the possesion of a beholder.

Introduction
The beginning quest for the dragon orbs

The adventurers are high ranking members in the order, second to only the head of the order. They are his strike force. That day he calls the adventurers in and tells you that last night he had a dream. Darmsa came to him and spoke him about dragons. She said the dragons are the children of Tassamir and Darmsa as they have both an excess of power and strength, and their greed is unmatched.

He then tells you that there is a plot against Tassamir and Darmsa through the dragons. There are ten powerful orbs known as Dragon Orbs, one for each breed of dragon. In each one is the spirit of a dragon. Someone is plotting to collect the dragon orbs and collect their power to become a god of dragons and challenge Tassamir and Darmsa.

The enemy has great power as even he can hide his name from the gods. He is only known as the Dragon Lord. He is very very powerful, so powerful that the adventurers could not face him alone. So instead they must find the ten dragon orbs and bring them to a holy spot, blessed in Tassamir’s name to shatter the orbs and release the dragon spirits. The dragons will pass on and the orbs will be inert. In order to do this, a cleric of great power must channel the energies needed to do this, so Lucas is sent to accompany the party, to channel the powers, keep the group in health, and provide any needed divining.

The master only knows the location of one but with the orbs you divine the locations of the others. The master gives the cleric a talisman to ward him against detection through the dragon orb. This was a gift from Darmsa, which he recieved when he woke from his dream. This will also keep him from the ire of dragons. He also gives him ten bags, which have the same effect as the talisman, expect when holding one, you cannot use its powers.
